Governor Otti Attributes 2027 Re-election to Divine Guidance, Reaffirms Commitment to Abia’s Development

Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has said his decision to seek a second term in office come 2027 will be guided by divine direction. The governor made this statement on Saturday during a grand civic reception and appreciation ceremony hosted by the ‘Oha Isiala Ngwa People’ of Isiala Ngwa North and South Local Government Areas.

While responding to public endorsements and calls for him to run again, Otti emphasized that just as his 2023 victory was guided by God, so too will his future political decisions. “Just as 2023 was in the hands of God, so too will 2027 be. I will consult with God, and as time goes on, my response will be made public,” he said.

Otti praised the community for recognizing the achievements of his administration, especially in the Isiala Ngwa region. He reiterated his administration’s commitment to infrastructure and economic development, citing targeted investments in Aba as part of efforts to boost the state’s economy.

On the ongoing Abia Airport project in Nsulu, the governor clarified that the location was chosen based on technical assessments rather than political considerations. He confirmed that compensation had been paid to all verified landowners, while urging those with unresolved issues to verify their claims.

“If anyone has not been paid, it is not our fault. Perhaps they provided incorrect account details, or there are multiple claimants for the same land,” he noted.

The event was attended by several dignitaries who commended Governor Otti’s leadership. Among them were Chief Ginger Onwusibe, Senator Darlington Nwokocha, Hon. Collins Iheonunekwu, and representatives from the Ngwa National Association in the USA and Canada, including Dr. Ugochukwu Agu. They praised the governor’s performance and encouraged him to seek re-election.

Governor Otti, leader of the Labour Party in Abia, also officially welcomed new members into the party, including Hon. Collins Iheonunekwu and his supporters from the Peoples’ Democratic Party, as well as the leadership of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, led by Eze Job.

The civic reception served as both a celebration of Otti’s governance and a show of grassroots support as the state looks toward continued development.
