South African President signed the controversial land seizure law

The land of White farmers in South Africa can be expropriated by the state without compensation under specific, limited circumstances.

The law has sparked significant debate both domestically and internationally.

Opposition parties, including the Democratic Alliance, argue that the Act threatens property rights and plan to challenge its constitutionality in court.

Internationally, the U.S. government, under President Donald Trump, criticized the legislation, claiming it targets white landowners and has consequently suspended aid to South Africa.

However, South African authorities assert that the law is race-neutral and aims to address historical land disparities.
