I had the honour of meeting with the U.S. Ambassador to Nigeria, Ambassador Richard Mills, at the U.S. Embassy, Abuja.

Our discussion focused on the vast opportunities and complex challenges facing Benue State and the broader North Central region. A key part of our conversation centered on Benue’s Anti-Open Grazing Prohibition and Ranches Establishment Law, a law born out of the urgent need to protect lives, foster peace, and ensure food security in our communities.

I emphasized that the path to sustainable development in our region lies in justice, security, and policies that reflect the realities of our people.

Ambassador Mills expressed a deep understanding of the unique dynamics in Benue and showed a sincere interest in supporting pathways to peace and prosperity.

We will continue to engage with international partners who recognize the importance of our efforts and are willing to walk with us toward a safer, more stable, and economically vibrant Benue.
