Government Alex Otti has signed the Abia State Senior Citizens Bill into law, together with 17 other laws
The Abia State Senior Citizens Bill, signed into law by Governor Alex Otti on May 27, 2025, aims to establish a center for residents aged 60 and above. It focuses on their healthcare, welfare, and social needs.
Some of the new laws include: Abia State Senior Citizens Law 2025, Abia State Road Maintenance Agency (repeal) law 2025, Abia State Estate Development Agency (Repeal) Law 2025, Abia State Orientation Agency (Amendment) Law 2025 among others.
Explaining the new Laws at Government House on Monday, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Ikechuckwu Uwanna said that some of the laws were amended by the Assembly, adding that it brought the total number of laws signed by the present and to 30.
Uwanna said that Abia State Estate Development Agency, ABSEDA was scrapped and moved under Abia State Ministry of Lands and Housing, adding that some of the affected government agencies would now report directly to Ministries, not to the office of the Governor.
