Presidency - “IPOB has a 50,000 strong Paramilitary Force, Kills civilians”

The Nigerian government is concerned about a recent partnership between Yoruba Nation agitators and the Indigenous People of Biafra, or IPOB.

 

The presidency ordered the Yoruba secessionist group to end its ties with IPOB in a statement signed by Presidential media adviser Garba Shehu on Wednesday, calling it a terrorist organization that kills civilians and security agents.

 

“IPOB is a proscribed terrorist organization,” according to the statement. It has now confirmed the existence of a 50,000-strong paramilitary group. It murders security personnel and innocent citizens on a regular basis, with a considerable increase in violent attacks this year.

 

It is currently seeking to keep Nigerian states captive by issuing orders for citizens to remain at home under threat of terrorism.”
